Our Model: Poetry, Soccer & Service
At Cleveland SCORES, every student is a poet, athlete, and leader. Through our unique tri-curricular model of poetry, soccer, and service, students learn how physical activity, creative expression, and teamwork come together to strengthen their body, mind, and character.
Our after-school programs are offered at Cleveland partner schools and serve students in grades 1–8, completely free of charge. Each program meets four days a week—two days focused on writing and two days on soccer. Every child participates in both components, building skills that extend beyond the classroom and the field.

Cleveland SCORES provides engaging, age-appropriate programming that grows with each child. Every level of SCORES is designed to meet students where they are—helping them build skills, confidence, and teamwork as they move through elementary and middle school.
Programming Schedule
The SCORES program year follows the school calendar (September–August), with fall focused on poetry, spring dedicated to community service, and soccer played year-round.
During the summer months, SCORES partners with community organizations, recreation centers, and schools to offer flexible extension programming that blends literacy and soccer-based activities for up to 10 weeks of additional learning and play.
